Katrina Machetta

Katrina will serve as  Editor-in-Chief for Legacy Press (2021-2022). She also serves as Resident Poet for the Heritage Society. She is a reporter/contributor for many publications, including Stanford Daily News, Youth Journalism International, PBS, Los Angeles Times, Yale Daily News, STEM Magazine, YR Media, and Habitat for Humanity. An avid community leader, she serves as Teen Court Advocate for underrepresented youth at the City of Houston’s Municipal Courts, President and Communications Director for Miss STEM International, President of Creative Writing Club at KC, Student Leader of Klein ISD Family Serves, Founder of Crafting Connections, Student Leader of Lonestar High School Leadership, Superintendent’s Student Leadership Council, and Teen Council Board Member of the Contemporary Arts Museum of Houston (CAMH).

Her news articles and poetry have been featured on local and national stages. She is the 2021 Grand Slam Champion of the City of Houston’s Space City Poetry Slam Series and has directed her poetic life towards service to the community. She performed to acclaim at the Suffragists 100th-year Commemoration of women’s voting rights; the Houston Astros and Los Angeles Angels baseball game honoring Jackie Robinson Day and at the opening of the international exhibition MandelaStruggle for Freedom at the Holocaust Museum, sponsored by the Canadian Museum for Human Rights and the South African Apartheid Museum in Johannesburg, South Africa. She aspires to evoke passion and intellect in her work to create a more vibrant world.
