Tiger Belles to perform at annual showcase
The Tiger Belles will perform at their annual Tiger Belle Showcase today. The Tiger Belles will be giving a taste of what their competition dances are like and guest-appearances will be held by the Kings of Alpha Step Team and the Kaleidoscope Dance Company. Admission is free and concession stands will be open. The program begins at 6 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m. and is located in the main gym.
This will be the first time Kaleidoscope, taught by Lauren Rodgers, will be performing in Showcase.
“I’m excited for Kaleidoscope,” Rodgers said. “It’ll be a great opportunity for them.”
The dance program encourages different styles of dance that the student body doesn’t get a chance to see often.
“We encourage all types of dance here, so I think it’s good for all of the dance clubs as a whole to grow and experience different styles,” Rodgers said.
The Tiger Belles will be previewing all types of dances ranging from Pom and Military to Kick and Contemporary.
“This is a very hard working group of girls so I think this is going to be a really strong competition season,” Rodgers said. “I’m very proud of both teams.”
Showcase gives the Tiger Belles an opportunity to get a feel for how their completion season will go from behind the scenes to being center stage.
“I think it’s a good practice for contest, and for families and friends to see what we do,” Tiger Belles Director Stacy Ache said. “It is also a good dress rehearsal for the girls.”
With other clubs having their first performance in Showcase, Rodgers has some advice.
“Live in the moment because you’ll never get it back,” Rodgers said.
