Senior Alix Fullerton will be attending the dance with her father. “The father daughter dance gives the opportunity to enhance their relationship,” Fullerton said.

The annual Girl Scouts Father Daughter Dance will take place on April 23 in the commons from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.

“Girl Scouts is a unity that I like being able to pass down to younger girls,” senior Ali  x Fullerton said. “The dance allows the girls to get involved in the event planning board.”

This year the event theme is “Enchanted Woods” and about 1,200 people will attend including Girl Scouts from grades kindergarten to 12th grade.

“It’s a chance to bond with your dad,” senior Madison Troxler said. “A lot of the troop leaders are moms, so it’s a nice memory to look back on.”

A council of Girl Scouts meets one to two Sundays each month leading up to the dance to decide the theme and activities.

“By being a member of Girl Scouts I have the opportunity to get scholarships,” Fullerton said. “We also get to go camping and do other fun things.”

In addition to dancing, there will be miniature golf, a selfie station, carnival games and relay races.

KISD supports both the Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts and their work in the community,” associate principal Steve Matheson said. “The Girl Scouts have always been great in respecting our building and treating it as if it were their own.

All proceeds from ticket sales go to each troops charity of choice.

“I love spending time with my dad,” Fullerton said. “The dads that come always have a ton of fun.”
