Students dance the night away at this year’s senior prom. The prom, themed Cirque du Prom, took place May 18 at the Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel.

Tickets change hands at the table set outside the draped doors as teachers run coat check, stowing their students’ things away for the night. In groups students make their way into the ballroom, met with a blast of sound, colorful lights and an air of the circus.

This year’s prom, themed Cirque du Prom, took place May 18 at the Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel. Senior Rebecca Mahle said that while the music could have been improved, the overall experience with her friends was well worth it.

“I really love to dance and was looking forward to good music,” Mahle said. “I was sad that the music wasn’t better. Overall, I got to go and see my friends all dressed up which made up for the poor choices of music.”

Senior Mikaela Glover said she enjoyed her prom experience, having waited eight years after watching a sibling go to prom.

“I’d been looking forward to prom since I saw my brother get ready for his prom,” Glover said. “I really liked how the prom king and queen were in my group. It made all of us really happy and excited for them. We’d been waiting all night in anticipation to hear their names.”
