Considerate, kind-hearted, and determined, she exuded confidence as she took over the new Junior Varsity squad for the year.
Coach Megan Strenger has been coaching volleyball for 7 years and has been at Klein Collins for the past 4 years. She is very devoted to her work on and off the court. Also a teacher, she teaches interpersonal studies and principles of human services.
“I went to high school at Klein Oak and knew that coaching in the Klein district would be a good idea,” Strenger said. “I have a friend who coached and taught at Klein Collins. When I had the idea to coach volleyball I decided to ask her if coaching here at KC would be a great place to work.”
After knowing the principal’s daughter through elementary and middle school, Strenger knew he ran his school in a good environment.
“I like the relationships I form with the athletes and coaches and my passion for the sport and getting to coach and teach players in the sport,” she said. “I love watching players grow from the time they enter the program their freshman year to the end when they graduate senior year. I will forever cherish the memories and bonds I create with every girl.”
Going through life everyone is faced with challenges and this includes Strenger.
“Trying to create a balance on the team of so many different skill levels, grades, attitudes, personalities and trying to create team chemistry out of that,” Strenger said. “Making sure to keep positive energy when the team doesn’t and motivating them even when there seems to be no hope.”
One of the lessons she tries to teach her players is to have a good attitude and respect for others.
“It’s super important after a volleyball match to shake the other team’s hand before and after a match because here at Klein Collins it is important to be the epitome of sportsmanship,” Strenger said.
