The teacher stands at the front of the room with his arms crossed, waiting to gain the attention of all his students. Criminal Investigations class has just started, and the competition is about to begin.
Every year, Criminal Investigations teacher Christopher Duncan holds competitions for his classes, where students try to remember information from past lessons. At the end of the year, the students with the most points accumulated receive gift cards of their choice.
Competitions are usually held on Kahoot, but sometimes he makes more fun, hands-on activities. Students enjoy and look forward to these competitions each year. Competitions are held every few weeks, all the way up until the very end of the year. The more enjoyable competitions have been hands-on, where students get to stand and do physical activities instead of simpler things.
“This should be very easy if you pay attention to presentations and lessons in class, guys,” Duncan said, smiling at everyone around the room. He turned his back to them then, clicking buttons on the screen to get the Kahoot game ready. The students pulled out their laptops and started to navigate towards the Kahoot game screen.
Sophomore Chamareea Beavers raised her hand and waited to be called on. When Duncan turned around, he acknowledged her raised hand with a calm smile.
“This is about everything we’ve learned so far, right?” Beavers said, shifting in her seat. She paid attention during class, but with the amount of things covered during a short amount of time, she was a little worried about how well she would do.
Duncan nodded at her and then turned back to the screen, pressing one final button. The class grew silent and everyone waited, anxiously, silently quizzing themselves one last time. The competition had begun.
