Football season is underway and the Varsity Tiger football team kicked off with a 35-28 win with the support of our Tiger Belles, cheerleaders, marching band, and seniors behind them.
The first varsity game was at Klein Memorial Stadium versus the College Station Cougars. It was a senior night, so the football players had not only their usual fans, but also many seniors that didn’t usually attend the games behind to cheer them to victory.
“I felt good about [the game] since we came back from a close loss,” sophomore Faith Bennett said.
Going to football games is a core high school memory that is not easy to forget.
“My experience at the football game was great,” senior Addie Strahl said.
Every week there is a theme that spectators dress up to represent. Last week was BBQ Dads versus Soccer Moms with the slogan: It’s cookout time; Cougars on the menu!
“I dressed up at school but not at the game,” Bennett said. “It was nice seeing other people’s outfits though. Especially the barbecue dads.”
This game was known as the senior night, where seniors are recognized and escorted by their parents. Tiger Belles, cheer, football and trainers all walked from the tunnel to the end of the field.
“The game was so fun,” Strahl said. ”I love getting to see everyone and dressing up for the theme!”
Last season, the football team made it to the playoffs, and we are hoping to get there again.
“I hope we make it to the playoffs and win,” Bennett said.
This week’s game is Friday, September 5th. Don’t forget to dress up in all white to wipe out the Willis Wildkats and support the Tigers as they play even better than before.
“I think they can only get better, last season they looked better every match,” Strahl said.
