“Dragon Ball Super: Broly” was released in the United States Jan. 16. As a remake of “Dragon Ball Z: Broly – The Legendary Super Saiyan,” it follows the Dragon Ball Universe, dating as far back to when Goku was still on his home planet, Planet Vegeta. As a new, yet remade film, it still manages to rile up its generations of fans for its action and visuals.

A baby exile, Broly, and his father reside on a planet, seeking revenge on the king who exiled Broly, King Vegeta. Eventually, the nemesis of Goku and Vegeta, Freeza, sends a task force who stumbles across the two and brings them into his task force. In turn for Freeza’s generosity, Broly, an extremely strong specimen of the Saiyan race, must defeat the two, powered by the revenge he and his father have sought for Vegeta– King Vegeta’s grandson. This fight between Broly, Vegeta and Goku is extremely action-packed. Even though it takes up the duration of the one-hour-and-fourty-one minute film, it keeps its audience at the edge of their seat, begging for more.

The Dragon Ball series is known for its energy blasts, lights and other spews of bright

visuals that capture the attention of all its viewers. “Dragon Ball Super: Broly” is another representation of what the Dragon Ball series has been known to live up to. The characters constantly undergo bright transformations into their different forms– for example, Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan God– which certainly please its long-term Dragon Ball fans. Furthermore, the main battle scene, taking place in an ice-continent region of Earth, brings an awesome effect that unleashes the limits of the overall fight. Mountains and the icy ground are wisely used not only as battleground, but also as forms of battle strategy. In turn, the scene and bright visuals happen to justly compliment the action that is shown throughout the movie.

One thing that action anime and their movies tend to do is elongate and milk out every second of film they can. As a result, it tends to bore its viewers and drop them by the second. “Dragon Ball Super: Broly” did not encounter that issue, fortunately. As previously mentioned, every minute of the film kept the audience at the edge of their seats, anticipating for more. For that reason, “Dragon Ball Super: Broly” deserves great kudos.

“Dragon Ball Super: Broly” was certainly an action-packed film that was justly complemented by its amazing visuals, and overall serves as a great revival to the Dragon Ball franchise. Altogether, “Dragon Ball Super: Broly” was an exciting film that can be watched by all generations of Dragon Ball fans, and did its justice as a part of the franchise.
