On Wednesday night the KC Tiger junior varsity football team took on the Wildkats of Willis High School at Yates stadium. Willis, with one team, allowed Gold and Navy to combine.
Junior varsity saw early adversity as they began slow on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. Willis’ pass heavy offense put the Tigers in a 14-0 hole going into halftime. The jv rallied back in the second half with defensive players sophomore Brody Dlugosh, juniors Christian James, Brandon Dowd and Jaxon Bailey all picked interceptions to bring the score in the positive.
These interceptions occurred due to the extreme pressure put on the Willis quarterback by the Tigers defensive line. The Tigers offense got rolling in the second half behind the running of sophomore Austin Terry and the blocking of the KC Hawgs.
Tigers pulled off a 21-14 win to start the season 2-0.
Coach Patterson was pleased with the teams effort including stand out junior Christian Rodriguez who stepped in for an injured player.
“Christian did a great job for us tonight, he did a great job commanding the defense and made some good plays,” Patterson said.
The junior varsity will be on the road next week to take on the Cougars of Tomball High School.
