Last season, sophomore Asher Mitchell stepped up as football starter. He may be on JV A now but is putting in a lot of work and is coachable to make it to the collegiate.
Asher started his football journey at six.
“At first I didn’t have much of a choice of whether I wanted to play football or not,” Mitchell said. “Then I gradually started to love it, and couldn’t see myself not playing football. That came with finding the position best suited for me which is outside linebacker and running back.”
He admits he has a lot to learn.
“I would say my greatest weakness is that I tend to get nervous about how long my body is able to go for in a game at 100%,” he said. “However, my greatest strength is that no matter how things go I’m not going to stop doing what I love, I’ll always keep my head up and push through it.”

Asher sees himself going to a DI school to play.
“I’ve been wanting to go to Oregon State for the longest, but recently I’ve been wanting to start working to get into Auburn or UCLA.”
Before playing, the whole team says a prayer for themselves and the opposing team to stay injury prudent.
To be a student athlete is a difficult thing that most people don’t understand. The art of juggling your work, and after hours training is something most people find hard to keep up with.
“I always put my education first, because at the end of the day if things go south I’m going to need that over anything else.”
