‘Moulin Rouge’ proves to be spectacular classic
Love, truth, freedom and beauty are the four fundamental principles in life to young Christian. The young author moves to the Montmartre district of France, where he plans on writing stories of love and take part in the Bohemian movement. But as soon as he is about to write, he comes to realize that he has never been in love before.
Upon this realization, he suddenly meets a motley crew of performers. Before he knows it, he is their new playwright and is on his way to a meeting with Satine, the famous cabaret dancer of the Moulin Rouge, to ask if she will perform in their play.
They soon fall in love, but must hide their relationship due to her job as an actress. As the story progresses, Satine begins to become sick with a mysterious illness.
From the forbidden love to the spectacular singing, Moulin Rouge will have you on the edge of your seat, dying for more. All of the actors play their characters so well that the only thing that pulls you back into reality is the semi-ridiculous special effects. Heart shaped fireworks are tolerable, but flying through the sky and dancing on a cloud with a singing moon that has a mustache is just pushing it.
Aside from that, it is a great classic that can make you laugh until your stomach hurts or cry until there are no tears left.
