Junior Varsity Navy and Gold were in action this week taking on the Bearkats. Both JV Gold and Navy came into the week after impressive wins against Magnolia West and were looking to continue their run towards another district title.
Gold would find themselves in a hole against a fast-paced hurry up style Klein offense that left the defense little time to adjust during the game. Although the team made a late comeback they eventually just ran out of time and fell to Klein 14-20. Gold looks to bounce back next week versus Klein Oak.
Meanwhile, Navy started off the game slow, giving up a touchdown on the opening drive and then fumbling the ensuing kickoff. Klein capitalized on Navy’s mistakes, but a tremendous effort by the defensive lineman would get the Tigers back in the game.
After an intercepted pass and return in 60 yards for a touchdown. The Tiger offense would get rolling on the ground behind a strong running performance from junior Elijah Whitefield. The offense would go on to score 21 unanswered points while the Tiger defense lead by junior Christian Rodriguez and sophomore Ayden Earl would cause multiple turnovers. The highlighted group of the game goes to the wide receivers sophomore Quincey Gardner, junior Dalton Humphreys, Kylar Stephenson and sophomores Fasi Adewunmi for their on target blocks and overall effort.
The Tigers will take on their rivals Klein Oak next week.
