School supports local families with food drive

For the past six years, the school has sustained a food pantry that supports families in need. Organizations such as National Honor Society, choir, Tigerbelles, soccer, Student Council and other various faculty members and departments have helped to maintain this food pantry by participating in the food drive.

Food pantry coordinator Donna Schultz said that the food drive helps relieve families’ hunger.

“We like to advertise the food drive for November because we give the families food for Thanksgiving and Christmas,” she said. “However, we ask for food year-round because hunger doesn’t just go away after the holidays.”

Donations for the food drive include non-perishable food items and gift cards.

“I tell students to think about what they would like because this food is going to students that have the same likes and dislikes,” Schultz said.

Donations for Thanksgiving should be received by Nov. 19 and donations for Christmas by Dec. 13.

Help the Legacy Press donate for the food drive by bringing items to room 173 by Nov. 19. For every item brought in, we will enter your name in a drawing for one of four $15 Chick-fil-A gift cards. For example, if you bring in 40 items, you will be entered in the contest drawing 40 times. Drawing will take place on the morning announcements Nov. 20.
