The AFJROTC Color Guard presented the national colors at Reliant Stadium before the Texans played the Baltimore Ravens on Oct. 21.
Personally selected by the Texans staff, the honor was magnified by the fact that the color guard was invited to the “Battle Red Day” game, synonymous to high school Homecoming. According to senior color guard member Michael Parker, this opens more event opportunities for the color guard.
“The Texans told us that they would be inviting us back for more events,” Parker said. “Mr. McNair, the owner of the Texans, is a veteran, so he is very serious about color guards being perfect, and we were.”
For Parker, the experience was amazing.
“Getting to see the players up close and being on the field was awesome,” Parker said. “The overall experience was fun. We got dressed across the hall from the Texans mascot Toro, too.”
Following the presentation, color guard members were given free box tickets. The Texans went on to win the game 43 to 13.
