The Varsity Baseball team won game two of three in round two of baseball playoffs 6-3 against Cedar Ridge.

The Varsity baseball team scored four runs in the first inning securing an early lead that helped bring home a 6-3 win over Cedar Ridge at the Mumford ISD baseball complex May 9.

The team lost to Cedar Ridge May 8 in game one with a score of 0-1. Cedar Ridge’s win in game one was lead by pitcher Trevor Bragadeste who’s no-hitter game left the Tigers shellshocked.

Pitcher Austin Boyles did his part to win game two for the Tigers, allowing only three runs over 5 and half innings. He struck out seven, walked three and allowed only three hits.

Last week, in the first round of playoffs, the team also lost game one. That loss forced the Tigers to come up with two wins in a row to steal the round from Oak Ridge.

Interviewed earlier in the week, senior team member Jared Huber said he feels good about round two.

“I like our chances in this round,” Huber said. “I just hope that we will go into the rest of the games playing a better game and keeping up the enthusiasm.”

Game three of the series is scheduled for noon on May 10 at the Mumford ISD athletic complex. If the team wins game three Saturday, they will advance to round 3.
