Hosa stands for Health Occupation Students of America. This club’s motto empowers students who wish to pursue future health professions and explore the medical field, placing emphasis on community service and competition.
Members meet in the library two Thursdays of every month. In their meetings, they discuss health or do activities for upcoming events. This fills other members with information about future careers they want to pursue.
“I chose to join HOSA because when I grow up I want to be in the medical field, so I thought it would teach me a lot about my future career as well as teamwork skills, and I thought it looked fun,” freshman Lacey Thomas said. “I also thought it would look good on college applications.”
This opportunity allows for developing leadership skills as well as working together as a team. It helps set career and educational goals and is good for a professional portfolio.
“I decided to choose HOSA because it is a club that gives many opportunities to people seeking experience in the medical field,” freshman Melissa Benyahia said.
Hosa is the largest student-led organization and one of the most beneficial medical industry organizations in the United States. It is fun to belong to in high school.
“It can also give you extra boost needed to rise above the competition on your college resume,” Hosa advisor Leigh Beard said.
